Actor Jonathan Majors was arrested Saturday evening after police in New York City responded to an alleged domestic violence call.
“A preliminary investigation determined that a 33-year-old male was involved in a domestic dispute with a 30-year-old female,” the New York City Police Department said in a statement.
“The victim informed police she was assaulted. Officers placed the 33-year-old male into custody without incident. The victim sustained minor injuries to her head and neck and was removed to an area hospital in stable condition.”
The statement said that the actor was arrested on charges of strangulation, assault, and harassment.
Majors’ team said in a statement that the actor has “done nothing wrong.”
“We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up,” Majors’ team added.
Majors, whose career has been on a meteoric rise over the last year, stars in two films currently in movie theaters, “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and “Creed III.”
In addition to indie film “Magazine Dreams,” likely to be released later this year, Majors is set to play an increasingly important role as the primary antagonist, Kang the Conquerer, in the Marvel film and TV universe.
