A Canadian teacher has been hired by a different secondary school after his previous employer, Halton School District, placed him on unpaid leave after photos of him teaching with giant prosthetic breasts were published.
Kayla Lemieux was hired by Nora Frances Henderson Secondary School in Ontario, according to a report from The Daily Mail.
Lemieux, previously known as Kerry Lemieux, claims he is “intersex,” not transgender. He insists his Z-cup breasts are real, resulting from a rare physical condition known as “gigantomastia.”
The teacher acknowledged he has not received an official medical diagnosis for the rare condition of having both male and female reproductive organs, which Lemieux claims he was born with, the report noted.
The school’s administration has taken measures to enhance security in anticipation of potential protests and disruptions following Lemieux’s appointment.
The controversial teacher was reportedly photographed walking around dressed as a man, in male clothing without the Z-cup prosthetic breasts Lemieux became famous for.
Lemieux denies being the man depicted in the photograph, according to a report from the New York Post.
The teacher told the Toronto Sun the picture was “not me,”but the Post stuck by its report, insisting its journalists knew the teacher’s routine, car, licence plate, apartment building and neighbors before snapping the photo.
“I can’t tell you who that is because I don’t want to bring anyone else into this,” Lemieux told the Post. “I don’t want that person being thrown all over the media, but it wasn’t me … this is who I am. This is how I look.”
“You’ve been talking to people in my building, but what they’re telling you is harsh and untrue,” Lemieuz continued. “I am always going out looking the way I am.”
Lemieux, who asserts that his breasts are natural, was previously employed at Oakville Trafalgar High. The teacher’s tenure there was cut short after images of Lemieux’s prosthetic breasts became public.
The photo of Lemieux as a man was the straw that broke the camel’s back, though.
As district staff deliberated on how to address the situation, some parents criticized the local school board for not implementing a dress code for Lemieux earlier.
The same board of education oversees Lemieux’s new place of employment, according to the Mail report.
Nora Frances Henderson Secondary School’s principal informed parents security will be heightened due to Lemieux’s hiring.
Student safety precautions include designated entry and exit strategies and the mandatory use of an intercom system for building access. Parents are asked to call or email before showing up at the school, the report added.
In a memo obtained by the Toronto Sun, Principal Tom Fisher acknowledged Lemieux’s “gender expression” had recently attracted public attention.
He emphasized the school’s commitment to upholding individual rights and treating everyone with respect and dignity.
