Former First Lady Jill Biden was reportedly a significant behind-the-scenes figure in managing former President Joe Biden, according to President Donald Trump.
However, Trump did not believe she was the one responsible for using the autopen to sign documents on Biden’s behalf.
This autopen incident, first reported by the New York Post, allegedly involved a Biden aide who forged Biden’s signature without anyone knowing if the president had actually approved the actions.
In the New York Post report, an unnamed former Biden aide claimed that a staffer would say they were acting under the president’s orders, but no one would question it.
The use of the autopen raised concerns about the level of control Biden had over his presidency.
When asked about Jill Biden’s involvement, Trump told Fox News personality Rachel Campos-Duffy that he didn’t think she was directly operating the autopen, but she was “certainly involved” in her husband’s presidency.
Trump pointed to a September 2024 Cabinet meeting, which Jill Biden presided over, as an example of her influence.
The meeting was seen as controversial by some, as many believed Jill Biden held too much sway over presidential affairs.
This wasn’t the first time Jill Biden’s influence had been questioned.
Trump attributed much of the Biden administration’s direction to what he called “radical left lunatics.”
He suggested that Joe Biden was a “perfect” president for these figures because he lacked the mental clarity to make decisions on his own.
Concerns over Biden’s health and cognitive abilities had been a recurring issue throughout his presidency, particularly after his debate performance against Trump in 2024.
These concerns resurfaced after Biden left office, with various books highlighting his physical and mental state while serving as president.
Trump, on the other hand, has consistently highlighted his own fitness for office.
After his annual physical at Walter Reed National Medical Center, he confidently declared that he was in “very good shape” and felt “perfect.”
He also shared that he had retaken a cognitive test he had passed multiple times during his first term, emphasizing that he aced every question.
Trump pointed out that both Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris had refused to take the cognitive test.
In another dig at Harris, Trump commented on her political future, noting the lack of enthusiasm for her in California.
A recent survey showed that many California “policy influencers” were skeptical about Harris running for governor in 2026 when current California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) would be ineligible due to term limits.
The survey revealed that 36% of respondents were “indifferent” about Harris’s candidacy, while only 22% expressed excitement, and 24% were either irritated or outraged.
