Taking a cue from the Democratic Party playbook, former President Donald Trump Wednesday announced he will replace David Weiss as special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden.
“As soon as I am reelected, I will appoint a real Special Counsel,” Trump said in a video, “to look at all these bribes, kickbacks and other crimes, as well as the shameless attempt at a coverup.”
“Justice will be done.”
U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed U.S. Attorney for Delaware David Weiss as special counsel to investigate allegations of criminal conduct by Hunter Biden.
Weiss was the DOJ attorney who authored a plea bargain deal that would have allowed President Joe Biden’s son to plead felony tax charges down to misdemeanors and escape prison.
The felony gun charge would have been erased by a pre-trial agreement if he remained drug free and committed no other crimes in two years, according to a Politico report.
U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika threw a monkey wrench in the sweetheart deal engineered between Biden’s defense and DOJ attorneys.
She refused to act as a rubber stamp and blindly accept the proposed plea bargain in a July 26 hearing in her Delaware court. She sent both sides back to make a better agreement, which they were unable to do.
Hunter Biden returned to Noreika’s court to later plead not guilty to the charges against him.
Soon afterwards, Garland appointed Weiss as a special counsel.
Trump is not satisfied with Weiss’ results after years of investigation.
Weiss allowed the statute of limitations to expire for alleged violations of tax law between 2014 and 2015, which included felony charges, according to a report from The Western Journal.
“It is now 100 percent proven that the Biden crime family received more than $20 million from foreign countries, while crooked Joe was vice president, and probably a lot more than that,” Trump said.
“That’s just the money they found,” he noted, adding the special counsel he appoints to replace Weiss will investigate claims of criminal acts by the Bidens.
“The Biden Crime Family will pay a price,” promised President Trump, “like other people are being forced to pay.”
“And that price will be very, very substantial.”
