Former President Donald Trump issued a statement in an email on the staggeringly high 9.1% inflation, the highest in over four decades.
The U.S. Labor Department on Wednesday said that the Consumer Price Index has risen 1.3% in a month to the current 9.1%. This surpasses the 8.8% headline figure and the 1% monthly increase that was expected by economists. It also marks the highest inflation rate since December of 1981, as reported by Fox Business.
“Inflation just hit ANOTHER 40-year high of 9.1%, which is terrible for our Country,” 45th President Donald Trump began his email statement.
“Fuel prices up 60%, Airfare up 34%, Eggs up 33%—how can people survive this? How can businesses survive this?” he asked.
“Our Country is so weak right now because the Radical Left Democrats have no clue what they are doing. All they want to do is ‘get Trump,’ and they are willing to destroy our Nation to do it,” Trump said.
“America will not allow this to go on for much longer. Don’t vote for the Radical Left Democrats, vote for America First Republicans—Save America!” he urged.
In the last year of the Trump presidency, 2020, the average Annual Inflation Rate was 1.2% while the average annual inflation rate of the first full year of the Biden Presidency, 2021, was 4.7%.
In response to the staggering numbers, Biden issued a statement on the topic. He claimed that the inflation rate was “unacceptably high” but assured readers that the information was “out of date.”
“Energy alone comprised nearly half of the monthly increase in inflation. Today’s data does not reflect the full impact of nearly 30 days of decreases in gas prices.”
The president added that “gas prices have fallen by $0.40 since June” and that “those savings are providing important breathing room for American families.”
The Biden Administration has been proven wrong time and again on the issue of inflation, as pointed out by researchers with the Republican National Committee in a compilation of the admin’s claims surrounding inflation since May of 2021.
