Trump Claiming Ownership of the Moon was Just One of His Many Bizarre Labor Day Social Media Posts

A steady digital storm broke over Truth Social this Labor Day weekend, as President Trump transformed his account into a showcase for AI-generated fantasy imagery spanning continents, planets, and centuries of presidential history.

Roughly 40 posts flowed from the president’s account across a single 10-hour window on Sunday, with fresh content continuing into Monday.

Trump published the material from his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, where he spent the holiday before a scheduled Monday night return to Washington.

Territorial expansion dominated much of the imagery.

One graphic reimagined the North American map entirely, showing Canada and Mexico absorbed into a single stars-and-stripes-covered United States.

The territorial theme extended further when several posts floated renaming New Mexico to “New America,” complete with custom-designed maps illustrating the proposed name change.

New Mexico’s governor wasted no time firing back.

Michelle Lujan Grisham, a Democrat, posted her own response on social media: “New Mexico’s name isn’t up for debate—it’s been ours since before the United States existed.”

She continued, pivoting to a broader political jab: “While the White House wastes time coloring on maps, Nuevo México is busy doing the work.”

Trump’s ambitions didn’t stop at Earth’s atmosphere. One striking image asserted American ownership of the moon itself, pairing the territorial theme with a cosmic twist.

A companion piece placed the president inside a rocket ship, standing tall above the command console beneath a “Space Force” caption.

Another visual pushed the fantastical aesthetic further, seating Trump atop an imposing dark stone throne bearing a strong resemblance to the Death Star from “Star Wars.” The caption underneath read simply: “Give them nightmares.”

History received its own makeover in Trump’s feed.

A ranked list of American presidents surfaced with Trump positioned at the very top under the label “Greatest,” placed above Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson — each of whom carried the designation “great.”

A separate image built on that comparison visually: the back of a figure resembling former President Obama stood before a mirror, only for Trump’s reflection to appear instead.

Text overlaid the scene: “Mirror, Mirror on the wall. Who’s the greatest president of them all?”

Pop culture made an appearance too, with one post depicting Trump locked in an arm-wrestling match against the late wrestling icon Hulk Hogan.

International tensions found their way into the mix as well.

A cartoon rendering showed Trump dressed in a USA hockey jersey, standing over a fallen Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on the ice — a nod to the ongoing trade dispute between Washington and Ottawa.

Economic bragging surfaced in another post, which placed Trump at the Resolute Desk surrounded by screens tracking stock market figures.

A quote attributed to the president accompanied the image: “I’ve made Hundreds of Billions of Dollars on Stocks, and many other type Holdings, for the U.S.A., not myself, and all I do is get criticized by the Radical Left Dumocrats.”

The New Mexico proposal didn’t emerge in isolation.

It follows a precedent Trump set through actual executive orders, including renaming the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America and Lake Ontario as Lake America — both moves connected to trade friction with neighboring countries.

Explaining his reasoning behind the New Mexico suggestion, Trump said the idea originated with unnamed supporters who told him “New America” sounded “much more prestigious and beautiful for the people of that potentially incredible State.”

Given New Mexico’s Democratic leadership, the proposal met swift resistance from state officials, mirroring the pushback that followed Trump’s earlier geographic rebranding efforts.

None of this marks a departure from Trump’s established communication style.

The 80-year-old president has long relied on his social media platform as a tool for sharing policy stances, targeting political rivals, and posting content purely for entertainment value.

This particular holiday weekend simply amplified that pattern into overdrive, blending grandiose self-portrayals with real-world political flashpoints across dozens of rapid-fire posts.

By Monday, the cumulative effect painted a sprawling AI-generated universe — one stretching from a reshaped North American map to a claimed lunar surface, all filtered through the lens of a president positioning himself above the historical figures who came before him.

Dude is declaring the fucking moon an American territory and the entire Republican Party is still pretending he’s not insane. pic.twitter.com/wJ1E2nbBba
