Former Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas will no longer have Secret Service protection after President Donald Trump revoked his security detail, the agency confirmed on Monday.

The decision comes months before the protection was originally scheduled to expire, according to a report.

Mayorkas, who served under President Joe Biden, was not automatically entitled to ongoing Secret Service protection after leaving his position in January. However, Biden had extended his security detail for six months, which would have kept it in place until mid-July.

The Washington Post reported that Trump’s move to revoke the protection shortens that timeline significantly, raising questions about security protocols for high-profile former officials.

The president’s decision extends beyond Mayorkas. Resist the Mainstream reported last week that Trump has also withdrawn Secret Service protection for Hunter Biden and Ashley Biden, the children of the former president.

Their protection officially ended on Monday, just a week after Trump publicly announced the change on his social media platform, Truth Social.

“Former Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Mr. Hunter and Ms. Ashley Biden and their families are no longer protectees of the United States Secret Service,” agency spokesman Anthony Guglielmi stated, per The Post Millennial.

Internal Secret Service records indicate the agency was notified of the decision on Friday.

The last person in America that deserves Secret Service security is the man that did this to our border security.

Mayorkas was routinely criticized during the Biden era, with outraged Americans claiming he did not do enough to curb the southern border invasion.

He was grilled for granting over 300,000 illegal immigrants from Haiti “temporary amnesty” back in July, allowing the group to stay in the U.S. for an additional 18 months after the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) was set to end on Aug. 4.

“We are providing this humanitarian relief to Haitians already present in the United States given the conditions that existed in their home country as of June 3, 2024,” Mayorkas said in a press release.

“In doing so, we are realizing the core objective of the TPS law and our obligation to fulfill it.”

Many of the Haitians likely already enjoy those benefits thanks to Mr. Mayorkas’s generous use of “parole,” but others who came without parole will now get some legal protections. https://t.co/i8aETkI7iL

Mayorkas was also torched by Congress in April when lawmakers questioned him about the Biden administration’s failed border security policies.

“For over three years, we have seen skyrocketing illegal immigration at our borders. And every corner of the country can see and feel its impact,” said Rep. Dave Joyce (R-OH) in his opening statement.

Joyce criticized the administration’s approach to the border crisis, stating, “The American people know that the border is not secure; it is a full-blown crisis that this Administration has sought to downplay for years.”

Rep. Michael Cloud (R-TX) questioned Mayorkas about the president’s authority to secure the border, accusing him of “filibustering” the question.

He emphasized that Biden has full authority to solve the border crisis but has instead done “everything to undermine the border.”

Resist the Mainstream has reported that Biden nominated Mayorkas to serve as Secretary of Homeland Security in 2021.
