Former U.S. President Donald Trump lashed out against his former staffer Alyssa Farah Griffin on Saturday.
Trump blasted the former White House official as a “sleazebag” on social media after Griffin spoke harshly at his expense on “The View.”
“Backbencher in the Trump Administration, Alyssa Farah, like so many other sleazebags, had only glowing reviews of the Trump Administration until long after she left.
A loser then, and a loser now! More to follow,” Trump posted on Truth Social, accompanied by an old video of Griffin praising Trump in effusive language.
Trump’s attack was occasioned by a recent taping of “The View” on which Griffin is one of six co-hosts. During a contentious argument about CNN’s recent controversial town hall featuring the former president, Griffin found herself in the minority as she defended CNN’s decision to host the event.
However, Griffin’s defense did not extend to any support for her former boss. Rather, Griffin attacked Trump and claimed that the town hall event served to “expose” his perceived negative qualities to the public.
“America got to see who he is last night: a ranting, raving lunatic, who sided with Vladimir Putin. He didn’t win a single voter. That was radioactive for Independents and moderates … Kaitlan Collins did a masterful job,” Griffin said the day after the town hall event.
“That town hall did not win him a single vote. He played to his base. It turned people off who’ve kind of forgotten what a buffoon he is,” Griffin said on a later taping of the show, reiterating her previous position.
Prior to joining “The View,” Griffin served as press secretary for Vice President Mike Pence and special assistant to the president for two years during the Trump administration.
She was then appointed as the youngest ever press secretary for the Pentagon. Griffin resigned from her position shortly after the 2020 presidential election and has subsequently been a vocal critic of Trump’s actions during the January 6 Capitol incident.
