President Donald Trump and the White House appeared to take aim at newlyweds Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce on Friday, sharing social media posts referencing the couple’s wedding while promoting the administration’s Independence Day weekend events.
The posts came shortly after Swift and Kelce announced their marriage during a ceremony at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
The couple revealed the news by displaying “JUST T MARRIED!” across electronic billboards outside the arena following the ceremony, which reportedly drew about 1,000 guests.
Minutes later, the White House’s official X account posted an edited version of one of the billboards.
The altered image replaced the wedding message with the words “Trump is your president.”
The White House captioned the post, “IT’S HAPPENED!!!”
The administration also shared an image styled after Swift’s Eras Tour promotional artwork.
Instead of featuring the singer, the graphic included images of Trump alongside former Presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
The post was captioned, “It’s been a long time coming…,” a reference to lyrics associated with Swift.
The social media activity occurred as Trump traveled aboard Air Force One to South Dakota, where he is scheduled to participate in events marking the beginning of America’s 250th anniversary celebrations.
The festivities are being organized through Freedom 250, the commission established by executive order in 2025 to coordinate events commemorating the nation’s semiquincentennial.
The latest posts continue a years-long public feud between Trump and Swift.
Trump initially praised the singer during the early 2010s but became increasingly critical after she entered politics.
In 2018, Swift endorsed Democratic Senate candidate Phil Bredesen over Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn in Tennessee.
Following the endorsement, Trump told reporters he liked Swift’s music “about 25 percent less.”
The relationship deteriorated further during the 2024 presidential campaign after Swift endorsed then-Vice President Kamala Harris.
Trump later posted on social media, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”
Last year, Trump also commented on Swift’s relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, per the Daily Mail.
At one point, he said, “I wish the best for both of them. I hope they enjoy their life, maybe together, maybe not.”
However, after the couple became engaged in 2025, Trump adopted a more conciliatory tone.
“I think he’s a great player, I think he’s a great guy, and I think that she’s a terrific person, so I wish them a lot of luck,” the president said at the time.
Friday’s social media posts revived the public back-and-forth between Trump and the pop superstar just as national attention shifted to the couple’s wedding.
