Former President Donald Trump has had a tough year. Adding to the woes associated with multiple indictments, fines, gag orders and verbal salvos from the left, Trump must now deal with the loss of his older sister Maryanne.
Maryanne Trump Barry died on Monday morning in her home in Manhattan. She was 86. The New York Times reported the cause of her death is unknown. Authorities reported there were no signs of trauma.
Over the years Maryanne had been a public defender of her brother’s business efforts and candidacy. However, the New York Post reminded readers that in later years, her niece, Mary L. Trump, secretly recorded Maryanne criticizing her brother.
Maryanne claimed her brother Donald “was a brat,” did not do well in school, and “had others do his homework and take his tests.”
Barry became an Assistant United States Attorney in 1974 and was nominated by President Ronald Regan to a serve on the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
Barry served as a federal judge for several decades and retired in 2019 “amid an investigation over alleged tax fraud stemming from her father, Fred Trump’s, real estate empire,” according to the Post.
Maryanne Trump Barry is the eldest of Fred and Elizabeth Trump’s five children — all of whom had notable careers, Maryanne was a federal judge. Fred Trump Jr. was a commercial airline pilot. Elizabeth Trump Grau was an executive with Chase Manhattan Bank. Robert Trump was an executive in various Trump businesses, and Donald served as President of the United States.
