In a surprising turn of events at Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport, President Donald Trump’s attempt at a spontaneous garbage truck ride was swiftly curtailed by watchful Secret Service agents on Wednesday.
The memorable scene unfolded when Trump, sporting a bright orange high-visibility vest, approached a LoadMaster garbage truck adorned with American flags and campaign decals following his arrival for a Green Bay campaign rally.
Andrew Brisson, vice president of LoadMaster, a family-owned garbage truck company based in Norway, Michigan, revealed the behind-the-scenes details of this unexpected encounter in an exclusive interview on “The Story” with Fox News’ Martha MacCallum.
“I didn’t really believe it at first till I picked up the phone and talked to the guy myself,” Brisson told Fox anchor Martha MacCallum, describing the initial request to bring a garbage truck to the airport.
After confirming the legitimacy of the call through an industry contact, Brisson personally selected and drove a truck to the location.
The Republican presidential hopeful’s choice of attire appeared to reference recent controversy surrounding President Biden’s comments that called Trump supporters “garbage.”
While Biden’s team later clarified his remarks were specifically addressing “hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico” from the Madison Square Garden rally, the moment sparked debate about the context of his statements.
“Earlier today I referred to the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico spewed by Trump’s supporters at his Madison Square Garden rally as garbage – which is the only word I can think of to describe it,” Biden posted on X.
The White House emphasized that Biden’s comments were directed at comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s controversial characterization of Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage” during the rally.
The brief encounter between Trump and Brisson culminated in an unexpected request from the former president.
“He looked over at me and said can you take me for a ride in this thing,” Brisson recounted.
“[I] started moving forward,” he continued, but the impromptu ride lasted mere seconds before Secret Service intervention.
“We only moved a foot or two and then the Secret Service kind of just started glaring at me and waving their hands and that was the end of the ride,” Brisson explained.
Resist the mainstream previously reported that Trump made a striking entrance to his Wisconsin rally Wednesday night, sporting an orange workman’s vest.
“How do you like my garbage truck? This truck is in honor of Kamala and Joe Biden,” Trump declared to waiting reporters.
He then engaged with reporters from the truck’s window, addressing questions about Puerto Rico.
“I love Puerto Rico. And Puerto Rico loves me,” Trump responded. “Nobody has done more for Puerto Rico than me.”
Trump maintained the workman’s vest throughout his speech, opening with a direct response to Biden’s controversial remarks.
“I have to begin by saying, 250 million Americans are not garbage,” he stated. “Kamala and Joe call all of us garbage. I call you the heart and soul of America.”
Following the Biden “garbage” comment controversy, a major Democratic donor doubled down by saying, “Garbage is an understatement for MAGA extremists.”
Trump’s running mate J.D. Vance quickly fired back: “One of Kamala Harris’s biggest donors is doubling down on calling half the country ‘garbage.’”
“Will Kamala and her campaign return his contributions?” he continued. “Or will they continue to insult half of the country for the sin of thinking Kamala Harris isn’t good at her job?”
