According to a new book written by Washington Post reporters Carol D. Leonnig and Philip Rucker, Former President Donald Trump slammed Gen. Mark Milley, Defense secretary Mark Esper, White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, and Vice President Mike Pence for obstructing his push to use the military during the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests.
“How do you think this looks to hostile countries?” Trump queried according to the book, referencing the 2020 riots. ”They see we can’t even control our own capital city and the space around the White House!”
Trump drew comparisons to the race riots of the 1960s, according to the book, but Milley and Esper pushed back, with Milley allegedly gaslighting the President by telling him “Mr. President, it doesn’t compare anywhere to the summer of sixty-eight. It’s not even close.”
“You’re all f**ked up,” Trump then said, according to the book. “Every one of you is f**ked up.” Trump then looked directly at Vice President Mike Pence according to the book, and stated, “Including you!”
Trump recently slammed Pence in a statement released on July 19, as reported by National File:
“Had Mike Pence had the courage to send it back to the legislatures, you would have had a different outcome, in my opinion,” Trump said.
“What courage would have been is to do what Thomas Jefferson did [and said], ‘We’re taking the votes.’ That would have been politically unacceptable. But sending it back to these legislatures, who now know that bad things happened, would have been very acceptable.”
