Trump Says Cuba is Next After Iran

President Donald Trump raised new concerns about expanding military action after suggesting that Cuba could be the next target following recent operations in Venezuela and Iran.

Speaking at a business forum in Miami, Trump made the remark while outlining his foreign policy approach.

“And Cuba’s next, by the way,” he said, drawing laughter from the audience before attempting to walk it back.

“Pretend I didn’t say that,” Trump added. “Please, media, disregard that statement.”

Despite the attempted clarification, he then repeated the comment again moments later, reinforcing the message.

The remarks come amid escalating global tensions, as the U.S. continues its military involvement in the Middle East following strikes on Iran.

Trump framed his approach as “peace through strength,” arguing that projecting military power can prevent larger conflicts.

“I said you’ll never have to use it,” Trump said. “But sometimes you have to use it.”

The president pointed to recent actions, including operations involving Venezuela, as examples of his strategy in practice.

His comments about Cuba, however, quickly became the focus.

The statement aligns with previous rhetoric. Trump has repeatedly suggested tougher action against Cuba and has hinted at major policy changes involving the island.

In recent months, the administration has pushed economic pressure, including threats of tariffs on countries that supply Cuba with oil.

The island is already facing severe challenges.

Cuba’s energy crisis has triggered widespread blackouts, leaving millions without electricity and disrupting daily life across the country, per the Daily Mail.

Officials have warned that the situation could worsen, with fuel shortages threatening essential services, including healthcare and water access.

At the same time, diplomatic talks between the United States and Cuba remain ongoing, though they are still in early stages.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel has acknowledged discussions but described the process as slow and uncertain.

The contrast between diplomacy and Trump’s comments highlights the unpredictability of the situation.

While negotiations are technically underway, the president’s remarks suggest that military options are still being openly discussed.

That combination creates uncertainty both domestically and internationally.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a central flashpoint in the broader conflict, with global markets reacting to instability in the region.

Any expansion of U.S. involvement beyond Iran would likely have significant economic and geopolitical consequences.

Trump’s speaking style has long included off-the-cuff remarks, but comments like this carry weight given the current global climate.

Even statements made jokingly can influence perceptions and raise questions about future policy direction.
