At a rally in Anchorage, Alaska, on Saturday, former President Trump set his sights on Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski, calling her “worse than a Democrat.”

Murkowski, who is up for reelection in November, was the primary focus of Trump’s speech, although he was originally there to issue support for other Republican candidates. The former president referred to Murkowski as a “lousy senator” in his speech.

“She’s a total creature of the Washington swamp but much worse than that and a tool of a corrupt establishment, the likes of which we’ve never seen. The fake news media loves her,” Trump said.

Murkowski had previously done several things to draw Trump’s ire. She had opposed the confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, but had been one of three Republican senators to vote to confirm Justice Ketanji Brown-Jackson.

Murkowski had also voted in favor of the bipartisan gun control bill that was proposed after the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, and the shooting in a Buffalo grocery store.

“This is your precious chance to dump the horrific RINO Senator Lisa Murkowski, using the acronym for “Republican in name only, “who’s worse than a Democrat. She’s worse than a Democrat,” Trump said.

Murkowski has been particularly in Trump’s sights since she voted to convict him, along with six other Republican senators in the wake of the Jan. 6 Capitol incident.

In June 2021, Trump endorsed Kelly Tshibaka, who called Murkowski “Biden’s CEO,” or, in her words, “Chief enabling officer.” The race between Tshibaka and Murkowski is expected to be among the most watched in the nation.

Trump also took time at the rally to discuss Sarah Palin, the former Republican Alaska Governor who is running for the state’s house seat and is one of his endorsees.

“She will be a true warrior for your state and for the country,” Trump said of Palin during the rally.

“Sir, we need you back. Four more years. Four more years,” Palin said while on stage with Trump. “And President Trump, you are home.”

Trump also discussed other topics, including Elon Musk’s recent decision to terminate the contract to buy Twitter.

“You know [what] he said the other day? ‘Oh, I’ve never voted for a Republican.’ I said, ‘I didn’t know that.’ He told me he voted for me,” Trump said.

Musk has made multiple remarks about his party leanings in recent months, saying in May that he “might never have voted for a Republican” and tweeting last month that he had voted for a Republican for the “first time.”

“So he’s another bulls–t artist, but he’s not going to be buying it. He’s not going to be buying it. Although he might later. Who the hell knows what’s going to happen? He’s got a pretty rotten contract,” Trump continued.

Musk has previously said that he had never voted for a Republican until the election of Mayra Flores. He had also said that in the 2024 election he was leaning towards Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as his candidate of choice.
