Former President Donald Trump issued a scathing rebuke of Vice President Kamala Harris over her performance in her first sit-down interview a month after launching her bid for president.
During a packed town hall hosted by former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), now an independent, Trump roasted Harris over the optics of her interview with CNN anchor Dana Bash.
“She was sitting behind a desk doing this interview. And I said, ‘Dana Bash, you could make yourself big tonight — all you have to do is be fair,’” Trump said.
“She was sitting behind that desk – this massive desk – and she didn’t look like a leader to me. I’ll be honest, I don’t see her negotiating with President Xi of China. I don’t see her with Kim Jong Un like we did with Kim Jong Un. So we’re going to have to see what happens,” he added.
In the interview, Harris claimed that her values on significant issues facing the U.S. “have not changed.” However, it should be noted that the vice president, who used to criticize Trump for constructing a wall along the southern border, is now saying that she would sign a bipartisan bill to continue the construction of the wall to deter illegal immigration.
During her speech at the DNC, Harris said, “I know the importance of safety and security, especially at our border. I will bring back the bipartisan border security bill that [Trump] killed and I will sign it into law.”
“I think the most important and most significant aspect of my policy perspective and decisions is my values have not changed,” Harris said during the interview.
She then reiterated her support for the left’s Green New Deal.
“You mentioned the Green New Deal. I have always believed and — I’ve worked on it — that the climate crisis is real, that it is an urgent matter to which we should apply metrics that include holding ourselves to deadlines around time,” Harris said.
The interview with CNN was the first Harris partook in after launching her presidential campaign on July 21. She did not attend this interview alone, however. Her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), was also present.
On Truth Social, Trump mocked Harris for rambling “incoherently” throughout the interview and claiming that her values remain the same.
“Her answer rambled incoherently, and declared her ‘values haven’t changed.’ On that I agree, her values haven’t changed,” Trump said.
“America will become a WASTELAND!” he added, referring to how the country would look like if Harris becomes president in November.
The CNN interview with Bash comes after the anchor moderated the presidential debate between President Joe Biden and Trump in June.
The former president has lauded Bash and fellow CNN anchor Jake Tapper for their performance in handling the debate.
Now, Trump is scheduled to debate Harris on Sept. 10. The event will be hosted by ABC News, which the former president has referred to as a “hostile network.”
Just recently, ABC News denied the Harris campaign’s plea to have microphones muted throughout the debate, marking a victory for Trump, as Resist the Mainstream previously reported.
