Tucker Carlson has responded to headlines falsely claiming that he called “trans people the ‘natural enemy’ of Christianity.” The headline containing the smear was published by media and news site Mediaite.
“I said that trans theology is inherently at odds with Christian theology. That’s true. The recent mass murder in Nashville is one result of it, obviously,” Carlson told The Daily Wire. “The shills at Mediaite and in the rest of the media would like to keep lying about this, which is why they aren’t pushing to see the killer’s manifesto.”
As the Wire reported, “Carlson addressed the tragic Monday shooting that took place at The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, and argued that radical gender ideology was the antithesis of Christianity – and that being the case, the two could not peacefully coexist. But at no point did he name transgender people as the ‘enemy.'”
Carlson had noted that he ran an entire segment the preceding Thursday about how “parts of the trans movement seem to be getting militant, and possibly dangerous.”
He claimed this segment was inspired by a segment by staunchly anti-gun NPR “positively urging” trans people to arm themselves with guns. It was just four days later that a transgender person targeted a private Christian school for mass murder.
When Carlson spoke of people — rather than movements or ideologies — his focus was on transgender intolerance of Christians, not its reverse.
“Trans ideology claims dominion over nature itself,” Carlson said. “That unwillingness [of Christians] to agree” and “that failure to acknowledge a trans person’s dominion over nature incites and enrages some in the trans community.”
“People who believe they’re God can’t stand to be reminded that they’re not,” he added.
Those comments came after a female transgender person targeted a private Christian school, killing three children and three adults before being killed by responding police.
The headline echoes a spate of other similar headlines and claims that Christians or Republicans are “targeting” transgender people for “eradication,” or seeking to commit “genocide” against them, and in this instance Mediaite was far from alone in twisting Carlson’s words.
As the Wire reported, “a HuffPost article railed against the popular Fox News host in its headline: ‘Tucker Carlson Spews Truly Evil Trash About Trans People In ‘Christianity’ Rant.'”
The Wire provided more examples, including one published by The Hill: “WATCH: Tucker Carlson Says Trans People are the Natural Enemy of Christians.”
Carlson is not the only conservative commentator to be targeted with false headlines following Monday’s violence.
Carlson reminded viewers that trans activists and, he said, Antifa have called for a “Trans Day of Vengeance” this coming Saturday.
