Twitter has banned author and journalist Naomi Wolf for her remarks about the coronavirus, COVID-19 vaccines, and other pandemic-related issues.
Twitter permanently banned her account. The company told The Hill she repeatedly broke the platform’s COVID-19 misinformation policy.
What she said: Wolf, a former advisor to President Bill Clinton and a prominent feminist, has been critical of the COVID-19 vaccines, lockdowns, vaccine passports, and other restrictions. She has also floated some theories about vaccines, according to Sky News.
Last month she told a US congressional committee that requiring people to show proof of vaccination would “re-create a situation that is very familiar to me as a student of history. This has been the start of many, many genocides.”
Wolf compared lockdowns to “Jim Crow laws,” Dr. Anthony Fauci to “Satan,” and argued that “the best way to show respect for healthcare workers if you are healthy and under 65 is to socialize sensibly and expose yourself to a low viral load.”
“Nowhere does it say in a sound and healthy society that you get to suspend civil liberties if there’s a disease around. That is not how it works in a democracy,” she told the outlet.
Wolf separately claimed that the COVID-19 vaccines are a “software platform that can receive uploads.” Wolf also argued that “vaccinated people’s urine/feces” should be separated from the general sewage supplies and waterways to “measure its impact on non-vaccinated people through drinking water.”
Worth noting: Wolf has also taken issue with some of President Joe Biden’s decisions, including his administration’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, and has said that she regrets voting for him.
“If I’d known Biden was open to ‘lockdowns’ as he now states, which is something historically unprecedented in any pandemic, and a terrifying practice, one that won’t ever end because elites love it, I would never have voted for him,” she tweeted late last year.
The response: Some users celebrated Twitter’s move to ban Wolf, while others raised concerns about violations of freedom of speech.
