President Joe Biden is being excorciated on social media after briefing reporters Wednesday without a mask to herald a contract agreement signed by West Coast ports and longshoremen.
“Let me explain to the press: I’ve been tested again today,” began President Biden. “I’m clear across the board, but they keep telling me, because this has to be ten days or something, I got to keep wearing it.”
“But don’t tell them I didn’t have it on when I walked in,” Biden said to laughter. “All right?”
First Lady Jill Biden tested positive for COVID-19, according to a Fox News report. Administration policies dictate those in close contact with covid-infected individuals should, at the least, wear maks for ten days in public.
Biden seemed to thumb his nose at administration policies, prompting anger at his “Do as I say not as I do,” attitude.
Earlier that day, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre responded to questions regarding the president’s decision to remove his mask during Tuesday’s Medal of Honor ceremony for 81-year-old Larry Taylor.
CDC guidelines, which the White House confirmed Biden would adhere to, mandate individuals exposed to COVID-19 should wear masks indoors in the presence of others.
“Joe Biden is refusing to follow CDC guidance on masking — how many people will die because he’s too selfish and uncaring to wear a mask?” commented Outkick writer Ian Miller in a sarcastic X post.
Senator Ted Cruz of Texas wryly remarked, “If only children in Montgomery County public schools also had the freedom to not wear a mask.”
Reporter Charlie Spiering rebuked White House offiicals for trying to sell Biden as a mask rebel after more than a year of condemning those who don’t for “failing thieir patriotic duty”.
“We’re right there with you – don’t tell us to mask either,” commented the Foundation’s Director of Border Security and Immigration Center.
