Notably anti-Trump and anti-DeSantis CNN and Ana Navarro of “The View” connected on Monday morning to offer governor and presidential hopeful Ron DeSantis a rare word of praise.
Navarro complimented DeSantis for his handling of Hurricane Idalia — a Category 3 storm that hit Florida last week and caused several billion in damages.
DeSantis’ management of disaster response efforts has been widely praised by both parties.
The Orlando Sentinel noted that DeSantis’ response “allowed the governor to show leadership by responding to a crisis under pressure.”

Navarro, who has been quick to criticize DeSantis in the past, offered the governor a rare word of praise during Monday’s interview.
According to the Daily Caller, on Monday Navarro encouraged DeSantis to “place more emphasis on his disaster management abilities as his presidential campaign continues to struggle.”
“I’ve always wondered why he didn’t leverage that more,” said Navarro. “Listen, I don’t like Ron DeSantis — it’s no secret — [but] I think he has been an effective leader when it comes to disaster management.”
Navarro added: “I think that through the hurricanes here, through the building collapse in Surfside in South Florida, he has been good at that. I recognize that. I like that from him. It’s one of the few things I like.”
Feeling a need to qualify her praise, the Daily Caller noted that Navarro went on to “criticize DeSantis for being ‘awkward, antisocial’ and ‘not really having friends,’ and accused him of ‘banning the alphabet.’”
The View’s co-host said: “You only got one chance to make a first impression, and he’s made that first impression as a guy who was anything but likable.”
RealClearPolitics recently reported that former President Donald Trump is polling at 53.6% and DeSantis is in the number two position at 14.3%.
