RTM previously reported on the arrest of Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., for unlawfully protesting outside the U.S. Supreme Court building — reportedly to demonstrate dissatisfaction with the Court’s recent ruling overturning Roe v. Wade. Newly released information reveals that 17 House Democrats were arrested.
Omar’s office noted that representatives participated in a planned “civil disobedience” abortion protest.
Axios reported that “Squad” members Cori Bush, Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez were among those arrested.
However, video shows that perpetual victim Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., pretended to be arrested as she walked with detainees with her hands held behind her back as if handcuffed.
Axios reports that among those arrested were: Democrat Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Carolyn Maloney and Nydia Velazquez of New York, Cori Bush of Missouri, Ayanna Pressley and Katherine Clark of Massachusetts, Madeleine Dean of Pennsylvania, Barbara Lee and Jackie Speier of California, Sara Jacobs of California, Rashida Tlaib and Andy Levin of Michigan, Alma Adams of North Carolina, Bonnie Watson Coleman of New Jersey, Veronica Escobar of Texas, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Jan Schakowsky of Illinois.
Fox News reports Police warned it is against the law to block traffic, adding “they issued three standard warnings before arresting some of the demonstrators who refused to get out of the street.”
Minutes later, Capitol Police announced that “[s]ome of the demonstrators are refusing to get out of the street, so we are starting to make arrests.”
Video footage captured by The Daily Signal’s Doug Blair and Bernadette Hassan shows AOC holding her hands behind her back as if she is handcuffed.
The Daily Wire noted that at one point AOC “lifts one fist in the air, shakes it, and then again places it behind her back,” adding, “her office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.”

Squad supporter Lynese Wallace also tweeted her support.
Republican communicator Matt Whitlock mocked AOC’s need for the spotlight, tweeting:
“Have to wonder if any of the protesters alongside her ever thought ‘wait .. aren’t you an elected member of Congress with the power to pass legislation on this issue? Why are you over here protesting? Pass a bill!’”
Political strategist Greg Price tweeted: “She pretends to be handcuffed, raises her fist in a salute, and then goes back to pretending to be handcuffed.”
Many wonder how productive America’s Congress could be if members would channel their energy and time into productive endeavors.
