Barstool Sports personality Francis Ellis bashed Fox News hosts Jesse Watters and Tucker Carlson and mocked the network’s audience in remarks picked up on a hot mic just days after he made an appearance on Watters’ show.
Ellis, the host of Barstool’s “Oops the Podcast,” may have given his own show some flak over his comments, which aired on Tuesday’s episode of “Barstool Rundown,” accusing the network in which he has appeared as a guest multiple times of “trafficking in hate.”
Co-host Adam Ferrone began by signaling the end of the show before asking Ellis about his most recent appearance on Watters’ show, “Jesse Watters Primetime,” on Monday.
“He wanted me to talk about how Democrats in Massachusetts want to lower the voting age to 16,” Ellis answered, explaining that he had weighed in with a Q-Anon joke and one referencing “To Catch a Predator,” but that he didn’t feel too great about the segment. “I just couldn’t get my feet under me. And I was like, I’m trying too hard.”
Ellis was then asked what he would do if Fox News offered him a “man-on-the-street” gig, similar to how Watters began on air with Bill O’Reilly. Ellis claimed they had offered that and he had turned them down.
“But what if they offered you not just a segment, but what if they’re like, ‘Francis, we want you to do the eight o’clock to nine o’clock hour!’” Ferrone upped the ante, and Ellis said he would consider that.
Ellis then pivoted, attacking Fox News and the hosts who he had been on the air with, saying, “Look, I got home. I talked my wife about it ’cause I was disappointed in myself and she was like, ‘Let’s be honest, like, do you want to be working with these f***ing people?’ She was like, ‘I watched the rest of his show — he’s a f***ing joke.’”
“This is still part of the ‘Rundown,’” Ferrone said, which another voice confirmed, “Still rolling, baby!”
“And then like, Tucker comes on and just screams,” Ellis continued. “It’s so weird. … They’re just trafficking in hate.”
Ellis continued, moving to attack Fox News’ audience, which he suggested consisted of people who were too stupid to realize he was joking in his comments at times.
“I think last night I went into a place that I shouldn’t have gone to,” he admitted before adding, “No, because last night I was like, yes, the Democrats are like eating children beneath pizza shops. There are people watching that, who don’t know that I’m f***ing with them. They’re like, ‘Finally a young, handsome person is saying it!’”
