In a remarkable display of behavior parents do not want their children to emulate, Beto O’Rourke, who presents himself as a role model and is running for governor of Texas, exploded with expletives as a voter laughs at his gun-confiscation agenda during a campaign stop.

O’Rourke has made gun control a key aspect of his campaign, particularly since the May 24 mass shooting incident at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, that left 19 students and two adults dead.

Critics have charged that O’Rourke has made a mockery of the mass shooting, using the tragic event as a political pawn to advance his political ambitions.

Last week, O’Rourke was heckled and compelled to leave a campaign event for Gov. Greg Abbot. The Daily Wire noted that as Abbott delivered his remarks, O’Rourke approached the stage and accused the governor of not doing enough to combat gun violence.

“The time to stop the next shooting is right now and you are doing nothing. You are offering us nothing,” O’Rourke yelled. “This is totally predictable when you choose not to do anything.”

Many quickly accused O’Rourke of using the Uvalde tragedy as a “campaign stunt.”

As O’Rourke confronted Abbott, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick called the Democratic gubernatorial candidate an “embarrassment” and told him to sit down.

Further embarrassing O’Rourke was Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin, also on stage with Abbott, who rebuked O’Rourke. McLaughlin said, “Sir, you are out of line. Please leave this auditorium … You’re a sick son of a b**** … you would come to a deal like this to make a political issue.”

O’Rourke, a former U.S. congressman and failed U.S. Senate and presidential candidate, is now running for governor of Texas. The latest incident of pushback against his stringent gun-control views came on Wednesday when he was leading a town hall meeting in Mineral Wells, Texas.

Speaking to what Fox News noted was a “small crowd,” O’Rourke attempted to present an emotional pitch to garner support for his anti-Second Amendment initiative:

“Now 11 weeks since we lost 19 kids and their two teachers shot to death with a weapon originally designed for use in combat – legally purchased by an 18-year-old, who did not try to obtain one when he was 16 or 17, but followed the law that was on the books ladies and gentlemen that says you can buy not one, but you can buy two or more if you want to, AR-15s,” O’Rourke declared.

Dramatically taking a knee and pointing into the distance, O’Rourke continued:

“Hundreds of rounds of ammunition and take that weapon that was originally designed for use on the battlefields of Vietnam to penetrate an enemy’s soldier at 500 feet and knock him down dead.”

As O’Rourke said, “Up against kids…” evidently preparing to gain a few political points by noting how weapons can be lethal to children, the gubernatorial candidate was interrupted by laughter.

O’Rourke turned to the heckler and shouted, “It may be funny to you mother—-er, but it’s not funny to me.”

The “small” anti-Second Amendment crowd cheered Beto’s uncomely display.

Emboldened, O’Rourke continued:

“We’re going to make sure that our kids who are starting their school year right now that they don’t have to worry about somebody walking into their school with a weapon like this. It would take common sense steps to find the common ground – Democrats and Republicans, gun owners, non-gun owners alike.”

Critics have pointed out that O’Rourke continues to omit important details as he references the mass shooting in Ulvalde — that the tragedy could have been avoided if armed security officers and police had not been derelict in their duty.

A 77-page investigative report released by the state House last month also notes “there was a “culture of noncompliance” among staff at the school. The school administration “tacitly condoned” the skirting of safety protocols, the report reads.
