President Joe Biden’s Friday visit to Irvine Valley College was met by Trump supporters and people demanding intervention in Iran.
The California campus entrance was crowded by loud supporters of the former president and vendors hawking Trump merchandise.
An Irvine police spokesperson estimated thousands of demonstrators also greeted President Biden’s arrival. They showed up to demand Biden “do something” about human rights violations in Iran.
“I want you to know, we stand with the citizens and the brave women of Iran for real.” Biden addressed the crowd demonstrating for Iranians. ““Iran has to end the violence against its own citizens simply exercising their fundamental rights.”
The Delaware Democrat travelled to Irvine to support incumbent Rep. Katie Porter (D-Irvine) in her reelection campaign. California redistricting has led political analysts to consider at least five Orange County congressional seat toss-ups.
Biden’s main purpose, though, was to remind voters that Democrats passed his so-called Inflation Reduction Act. The party of Roosevelt is struggling with voter anger over high prices caused by inflation that has grown geometrically under the Biden administration.
He also spoke about his Executive Order designed to reduce prescription drug prices.
All of those things received significant press coverage, as expected, but the president received unflattering coverage when he gave unasked for advice.
Frontlines reporter Kalen D’Almeida posted to Twitter a video of President Biden that had 3.3 million views in less than one day. Biden may be seen standing behind a female with long hair as they appear to pose for a photo opportunity. The president places his hands on the young girl, leans in and gives her unsolicited dating advice.
“A very important thing I’ve told my daughter and granddaughters,” Biden said into the girl’s ear as she turns her head back to him with a startled look, “no serious guys until you’re 30.”
