Chicago has a problem — Mayor Lori Lightfoot. Her woke policies and refusal to listen to reason, which have provoked rampant crime, has led thousands of police and medical personnel to resign along with an exodus of citizens and businesses.
On Tuesday, Fox News reported that Keith Thornton Jr., a Chicago 911 dispatcher, resigned “over what he sees as a lack of support for law enforcement from Mayor Lori Lightfoot and other city officials.”
His blistering letter of resignation is lighting up social media.
Thornton shared his story on “Fox & Friends First,” noting the “lawlessness and out-of-control crime that led him to resign from his role as a dispatcher.”
“There is no transparency from the city hall here in Chicago and just a very negligent administration. It was just time. I’m tired of it,” Thorton said.
Noting that Chicago is facing a “crime crisis. Thornton, an experienced 911 dispatcher and anti-crime advocate, asserts he resigned to be a better “advocate and get my voice out there.”
Thornton directly links Chicago’s crime with Lightfoot’s leadership, stating that the only thing bigger than Chicago’s crime problem is “Mayor Lightfoot’s ego.”
Challenging Lightfoot’s competence and character, Thornton claims that Lightfoot’s reports are rife with falsehoods.
“Constantly every week, every other day, they’re saying that the stats are down with violent crime and people shot and homicides. Listen, being on the other side of the radio as a dispatcher in Chicago, I’m like, this is nonsense. … I don’t stand for that. This is wrong,” he said, noting that Lightfoot’s reports are “lies.”
“We’re supposed to tell these citizens a bunch of fluff that we have resources and police coming, and there’s hours and hours before we can get an officer to many of the scenes throughout the city,” he added.

Thornton is not alone in his assessment.
Ken Griffin, a businessman and leader of the third largest employer in Chicago, recently left the “Windy City” saying, “Chicago is like Afghanistan,” adding that he has no reservations in leaving the “Chicago crime cesspool” behind.
According to The Blue State Conservative, the “7th-most valuable NFL franchise, Da Bears of Chicago, are packing their bags and heading to greener (read: safer, more tax-friendly) pastures. It’s the perfect middle finger to woke, inept leadership personified by real-life Beetlejuice Lori Lightfoot.”
According to a previous Fox News report, police made arrests in only 12 percent of crime cases in 2021, a 20-year low. The report noted that woke policies, underfunding and “sweeping changes” from the mayor’s office directly contribute to the poor statistics.
Thornton added: “We love what we do. We love serving and protecting, and we’re leaving to go somewhere else and just pray for our city.”
