A recent CNN broadcast spotlighted an apparent breach of media ethics. During a televised dialogue, CNN anchor Kasie Hunt faced a surprising allegation.
According to the Daily Caller, Ken Cuccinelli, founder of the pro-DeSantis PAC Never Back Down, accused CNN of “Deceptively cutting a clip of DeSantis’ latest interview.”
Mediaite noted that several media outlets ran with a misrepresentation of DeSantis’ comments over the weekend, including CNN’s Kasie Hunt, who began a Sunday program by saying, “There was a pretty interesting moment in a recent interview where Governor DeSantis talked about Trump supporters. He used the word words, listless vessels.”
As Hunt ran the clip, Cuccinelli accused the anchor of cutting the feed.
The accusation was fiercely rejected by the CNN anchor. “I did not cut him off nor did anyone instruct me to cut him off.”
Cuccinelli, former acting director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, responded by saying, “But I have seen the unedited video of Gov. DeSantis, and what aired on CNN was not what he said in full.”
According to Cuccinelli, CNN and other medial outlets omitted significant context as DeSantis delivered his comments, thus altering the candidate’s meaning.
Cuccinelli pressed: “Everybody just saw there that there was a cut. You cut from the beginning of that quote to the ‘listless vessels.’ You just did what the problem is. So everybody who just watched that understand go read the transcript.”
“Okay,” Hunt replied. “Fine, you summarize for us what was it that he was trying to say?”
“Well, first of all, his first point is an excellent point, this should be about America not about individuals,” Cuccinelli then said accusingly, “How do we get from there to listless vessels?”
Cuccinelli added: “You don’t have to listen to me,” You can go read it yourself.”

The Never Back Down founder continued to press: “Sorry, you want to push a narrative, you got caught,” implying there were motives behind the editing decision.
Hunt struggled to maintain her composure amid the assertions of bias and deception. “I simply brought you on to have a conversation,” Hunt said.
In an age rife with partial truths and cherry-picked narratives, an edited clip can shift perceptions. Voters are urged to research and verify in discerning what is and is not true.
