The director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and chief medical adviser to President Joe Biden is the subject of an eponymous National Geographic documentary focusing on his life. It will stream Wednesday on Disney+.
Fauci touched on health pandemics, including HIV/AIDS and the coronavirus, in the documentary’s interviews.
“It’s affecting you now,” an interviewer for FAUCI said.
Fauci replied: “Yeah.”
The interviewer asked why.
“Post-traumatic stress syndrome,” Fauci, 80, said.
“When you’re involved in a race to stop a horrible disease, you always feel you’re not doing things quickly enough,” Fauci said in the documentary’s trailer as he stood by a mass memorial.
The trailer’s narrator noted that “when COVID hit, he became this target,” likely referring to conservatives who opposed his views on policies for masks, vaccinations, school closings, and business closings.
