Reporters are guaranteed to scoop rivals when they are the only ones who know something. Fox News anchor Julie Banderas delivered a scoop on Thursday’s episode of the Fox program “Gutfeld!”

Host Greg Gutfeld asked the reporter if she was getting anything for Valentine’s Day.

“[Expletive deleted] Valentine’s Day!” Banderas exclaimed, calling it stupid. “Even when I was married, I didn’t get [bleeped] for Valentine’s Day.”

“Wait,” Gutfeld interjected, “you’re no longer married?”

Banderas leaned further back on her couch and replied with a smile to the host’s question.

“Well, I’m getting a divorce,” she responded, “I’m going to go ahead and say it right here for the very first time.”

“Thank you, everyone,” she continued. “Congratulations are in order.”

The segment may have drawn more viewers to see what Banderas meant by the teaser she posted to Twitter earlier that day.

“Tune into @Gutfeldfox tonight at 11pm ET,” she commented. “I have a little announcement at the end of the show. (During the Valentines Day segment ironically).”

Her revelation about the end of her 14-year marriage to financial adviser Andrew Sansone, with whom she has three children, was not unusual for her. She announced their engagement in a September 2008 broadcast of “American Election Headquarters,” according to a Fox News report. A similarly public announcement seems a fitting bookend to the marriage.

After the episode broadcast, some speculation was posted to social media that it was a publicity stunt that would soon be revealed.

“I imagine that @JulieBanderas is going to say she was kidding on social media later tonight,” commented one Twitter follower. “Guys, you’re all gonna be disappointed.”

The Fox reporter replied in a retweet that she was not kidding.
