An exchange on a Fox panel containing New York Post columnist Miranda Devine, former Trump adviser Stephen Miller and host Laura Ingraham escalated to frayed nerves and raised voices as the panel dealt with Ingraham’s contention that Trump needs to provide solutions and be forward looking and positive and less grievance-focused and angry.

“I 100% agree with you,” Devine said. “And I hope you do continue to say that and I hope at some point Donald Trump does flip to the future instead of dwelling on the past because he looks like someone who is full of grievance and anger. Not like someone – like he was in 2016, and like we knew him as president. Really, a sunny person who focuses on serious issues and does them with panache – not someone who’s constantly dwelling on grievance.”

Although Miller appeared to take umbrage and be unwilling to brook criticism of the former president, he did respond substantively, reciting a litany of appearances and speeches at which Trump announced a series of ideas and policy proposals (read: “solutions”).

Ingraham’s patience showed wear, however, as she stopped Miller’s recitation to ask, “So nothing can be tweaked? Nothing?”

Miller’s own exasperation showed when he answered, “I have not in my lifetime seen a candidate who’s put more new policy in so short a period of time.”

“Then talk about it!” interjected Ingraham

“There’s no ‘cheery’ way to be prosecuted by Alvin Bragg, there’s no ‘cheery’ way to have the special counsel come after you,” Miller rejoined.

The tension soon dissipated, however, and all three panelists shared what looked like a genuine chuckle. Ingraham then returned to the matter at hand.

“You’re not gonna win suburban mothers by [complaining about Alvin Bragg] — ya know, I don’t think, maybe I’m wrong. Alvin Bragg is a complete dirtbag, ok? And we all know this. A politicized dirtbag. But we’re not gonna win votes in suburban America — I don’t think — by complaining about Alvin Bragg and mail-in votes.”

Ingraham then directed Devine to wrap up the discussion. “Well Miranda agrees with me, on the prosecutions,” interjected Miller, seemingly having missed Ingraham’s point.

“Of course we agree on the prosecutions,” clarified Ingraham. “We all agree on that.”
