Former President Donald Trump’s running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), issued a scathing rebuke of Vice President Kamala Harris for questioning his loyalty.
While speaking in front of a packed crowd in St. Cloud, Minnesota, Vance criticized Harris for her remarks in a 45-second YouTube video, where she claimed that the Ohio senator would be “loyal only to Trump, not to our country.”
Harris asserted that Vance would be a “rubber stamp for [Trump’s] extreme agenda.”
In response, Vance pointed out that he served in the Marine Corps and fought in Iraq after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He also noted that he began a small business in the U.S.
“Now, I saw the other day Kamala Harris questioned my loyalty to this country. That’s the word she used; loyalty. And it’s an interesting word,” Vance began.
“Semper Fi: loyalty, because there is no greater sign of disloyalty to this country than what Kamala Harris has done at our southern border,” he added.
After criticizing Harris for her lax response to the illegal immigration crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border, Vance then asked what the vice president had done of significance for the U.S. for her to question his loyalty.
“And I’d like to ask the vice president, what has she done to question my loyalty to this country? I served in the United States Marine Corps. I went to Iraq for this country. I built a business for this country,” Vance said, adding, “and my running mate took a bullet for this country.”
“So, my question to Kamala Harris is, what the hell have you done to question our loyalty to the United States of America?” he continued.
Vance’s remarks were met with raucous applause by the crowd in St. Cloud.
The Ohio senator then answered his own question.
“And the answer, my friends, is nothing. So let’s send a message to the media. Let’s send a message to Kamala Harris. Let’s send a message to every hardworking patriot from Minnesota across the country. We are ready to have President Donald J. Trump back, and we’re going to work our tails off to make sure it happens,” Vance concluded.
Fox News released a poll on Friday showing Trump trailing Harris in Minnesota by six percentage points, 52-46%.
In the survey, Trump leads Harris by one percentage point in Wisconsin, 50-49%. The pair are tied in Pennsylvania and Michigan at 49% each.
Harris will likely become the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee after President Joe Biden was reportedly pressured to drop out of the race.
The vice president has garnered the endorsements of many high-profile democrats, such as former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and former President Barack Obama, among others.
During the rally in St. Cloud, Trump also berated Harris, blaming her and Biden for the latest attack in northern Israel reportedly carried out by Hezbollah — a terror group.
“It’s a dangerous and terrible time for the world, and it’s almost the entire fault of the Biden-Harris administration,” the former president said.
