Responding to Wednesday’s testimony by former CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield to a House subcommittee, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) blasted Dr. Fauci and leading government health agency officials for incentivizing those who supported their COVID narrative and punishing those who disagreed.
RTM previously reported Redfield testified that Fauci “sidelined” him in early 2020 after he questioned Fauci’s contention that the COVID virus was naturally occurring.
Accusing Fauci of deliberate deception and grievous mismanagement of the pandemic, Jordan charged: “He was trying to cover his backside, and everybody knows it.”
Jordan shared his comments during testimony at a meeting of the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Jordan said of Fauci: “This is the highest-paid guy in our government getting all kinds of money to tell us things that were not accurate. We now know U.S. tax dollars went to a lab in China, a lab that was not up to code, a lab that was doing gain-of-function research, and that’s where this thing most definitely came from.”
Jordan’s comments follow recent statements by the FBI and U.S. Dept. of Energy noting that the origin of the COVID-19 virus was likely a lab leak.
Beijing denies the allegations — their position is supported by a 2021 report by the World Health Organization.
As director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Fauci became the chief architect for America’s response to the pandemic and the theories regarding the virus’ origin.
Today, Jordan asserted that Fauci deliberately misled the American public, was involved in prohibited gain-of-function research, inappropriately routed funds from the CDC and NIH to fund experimental research at the Wuhan lab in China, punished scientists who disagreed with his statements regarding the origin of the virus and financially incentivized scientists who supported his views.
During Wednesday’s hearing, Jordan questioned Redfield about a pair of notable virologists who inexplicably reversed their positions about the origins of the COVID virus after meeting with Fauci.
Jordan asked why, without the emergence of new scientific data, two noted scientists who strongly supported the “lab leak theory” immediately changed their positions and aligned with Fauci.
Redfield testified that the award of a multimillion dollar grant was likely a factor.
Jordan quipped: “There’s 9 million reasons why they changed their mind.”
Jordan also claimed that Fauci’s decision to keep Redfield, the former CDC Director and COVID taskforce member, out of key discussions resulted in significant harm to America.
“Keeping him out of the loop probably — potentially could have harmed America —” Jordan said. The angry congressman continued: “That’s the thing that ticks us all off,” then noted his commitment to discover the truth regarding COVID’s origin.
