Former Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway appeared on Fox Business network’s “WSJ at Large,” where she delivered cutting insights into Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s seemingly politically motivated prosecution of former president Donald Trump and his recent reversal of course and hesitation to arrest and prosecute former president Donald Trump.
“I think the brush back and the delay here is because they know it’s weak and they tried to build a case based on the testimony of Michael Cohen and to a lesser extent Stormy Daniels,” Conway said, as reported by the Washington Examiner.
That alleged weakness in the case, however, was present from its onset and is, therefore, no change. So if Conway’s contention is true, then why the strained effort to prosecute in the first place? “I think it’s enough for them to wave the flag and say, ‘we were the first,’ because the left cares about optics and being the first, ‘we’re the first to preside over the indictment of a sitting former president,’” Conway said.
Conway, who said she testified before the Manhattan grand jury and has discussed the matter with Trump himself, went on to explore the subject more broadly, however. “If you take the long view, it’d be hard to see how this doesn’t benefit President Trump because it plays right into what he has always said, which is ‘they’re out to get me,’ which means they’re out to get you: the voter,” Conway observed.
Host Gerry Baker was on the same page. “It does seem to be a gift for Trump,” he agreed. “It does absolutely emphasize his case that he’s a victim of overzealous and politically motivated prosecutors … and actually could help him.” A chyron then flashed onscreen, informing viewers that Trump has raised $1.5 million since his “arrest prediction.”
The discussion thereby touched on another potential reason for a pending arrest of Trump to be abruptly called off: political motivation. It stands to reason that if the decision to prosecute Trump was motivated by political considerations, the abrupt decision not to prosecute him could be motivated by the very same thing.
Indeed, since news broke that Trump likely was soon to be arrested, a wide and diverse chorus of voices from Bill Maher to Elon Musk to even Andrew Cuomo — to name just a few — has cried out that arrest, handcuffs and prosecution are the last briar patch into which the left should seek to throw Trump.
And so, Trump remains uncuffed, unarrested and unprosecuted — at least for now.
