On Sunday, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) issued a scathing rebuke of the far-left “Squad” members of the House of Representatives, warning them to “shut the hell up” as Israel begins military operations against Hamas.
Reps. Cori Bush (D-MO), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), Rashida Tlaib (D-MN), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) released statements following the terrorist attack on Israel, perpetrated by Hamas on Saturday morning.
Pressley, Ocasio-Cortez, and Bowman all pushed for a cease-fire and “de-escalation,” while Bush and Tlaib made headlines for blaming the attacks on Israel’s “apartheid government” and pushed for “ending the occupation.”
At least 900 people have been killed, with the death toll expected to rise, and over 100 civilians and military members have been taken hostage by Hamas, who has threatened to kill hostages in retaliation for unannounced bombings of Gaza.
“To the squad, shut the hell up,” Graham said while speaking to “America Reports” co-host Sandra Smith. “You’re emboldening the enemy, you are a disgrace to the United States Congress. You are siding with terrorists over a democracy called Israel. You have lost your perspective here. I am confident most Democrats do not agree with the squad.”
Tlaib in particular has been a longtime critic of Israel. In May, she held an event in which she referred to the founding of Israel as a “catastrophe” in a Senate hearing room, after former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy blocked it from being held in the Capitol building.
During his interview, Graham ripped the Biden administration over its policies toward Iran, which included giving the country access to $6 billion from oil sales, which was being held by South Korea, in exchange for the release of five Americans being held in Iran.
The Biden administration alleged that the money would only be able to be used for humanitarian purposes, but Iranian leaders at the time said they would use it as they pleased, and other experts said that the money enabled Iran to use other funds to support terrorism.
Former President Donald Trump was among the most prominent Republicans who blasted the arrangement, calling it a “ransom” payment. After the attacks took place on Saturday, Trump’s previous comments went viral.
“Can you believe that Crooked Joe Biden is giving $6 Billion to the terrorist regime in Iran? That money [will] be used for terrorism all over the Middle East, and, indeed, the World. This incompetent FOOL is absolutely destroying America,” Trump posted to Truth Social in early September.
