A woman explained to Rep. Marjorie Greene (R-GA) about how many children, like her two sons, die from fentanyl poisoning.
“I lost my two sons – Caleb was age 20 and Kyler was age 18,” said Rebecca Kiessling during testimony before a House Homeland Security subcommittee.
The Detroit, Michigan, mother described how her two sons died of fentanyl poisoning. They, along with a friend, died in an Auburn Hills hotel room in July 2020, according to a Fox 2 Detroit report.
“I don’t use the term overdose, because this was not an overdose – this was murder,” Kiessling testified. “My children got fake Percocets.” She informed Greene that her sons and their friend believed they purchased Percocets. She went off on a tangent about how the government wasted its money on rehab because she said it was not a real rehab.
Kiessling asserted she and other moms in support groups lamented the federal funding provided to buy drugs for healthy, able U.S. youth during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The activist mother related how law enforcement informed her that the deadly fentanyl that killed her children originated in Mexico.
Kiessling, an attorney and pro-life activist, implored lawmakers to increase border security to stop the flow of deadly fentanyl from Mexico killing U.S. citizens.
“I didn’t know that people were dying – I didn’t know that my boys were taking anything that could kill them – they didn’t think that they were either,” she continued. “This is a war – act like it – do something.”
A Twitter post Tuesday by Greene excoriated the Biden administration for relaxing security along the southwest border.
“Listen to this mother, who lost two children to fentanyl poisoning, tell the truth about both of her son’s murders because of the Biden administrations refusal to secure our border and stop the Cartel’s from murdering Americans everyday by Chinese fentanyl,” Greene remarked. Her caption appeared above a video clip showing a portion of the grieving mother’s testimony.
A disclaimer has been added by the Detroit News noting President Joe Biden was not president in 2020 so should not be blamed for deaths then.
President Biden noticed Greene’s post and inference that his policies led to the death of the Detroit woman’s children. Speaking at the Democratic Caucus Issues Conference Wednesday at Baltimore’s Hyatt Regency Hotel, he deflected blame for border policies increasing fentanyl deaths.
“Isn’t she amazing?” the president asked, to laughter. “Oof.”
“I’ve read she was very specific recently, saying that a mom — a poor mother who lost two kids to fentanyl, that — that I killed her sons,” Biden said, referring to Greene’s tweet. “Well, the interesting thing is that fentanyl they took came during the last administration.” Biden then issued a weird, short chuckle before continuing his address.
Kiessling slammed Biden on Facebook after seeming to laugh off his involvement in the deaths of the activist’s sons. She asked what the president had to say to the parents of 200,000 U.S. citizens who did die on his watch. She noted the 22 percent increase in deaths attributed to fentanyl during Biden’s first year in office.
“He owes me an apology, along with all of the parents whose children DID die under his watch,” Kiessling exclaimed. “And, how dare CNN hijack this important discussion to make it about a Congresswoman who misspoke as to when my sons died. Focus on a solution to the tragic deaths of over 110,000 precious people each year in the fentanyl war waged against us by China and the Mexican cartels.”
