Years of left-leaning leadership has left the city of New York in peril. Overall crime is up 31%, and marginalizing the police has led to an 18% decrease in incarceration. Highlighting the problem, on Sunday Bishop Lamor Whitehead was robbed during the middle of a livestreamed service.
Whitehead, who oversees Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministries, was presenting a sermon when armed men entered the sanctuary, according to The Daily Wire.
CBS New York reports that Whitehead told the assailants, “I don’t want my parishioners hurt. I’ve got women and children there.”
Whitehead reflected: “As I got down, one went to my wife and took all her jewelry and had the gun in front of my 8-month-old baby’s face … Took off my bishop’s ring, my wedding band and took off my bishop’s chain, and then I had chains underneath my robe and he started tapping my neck to see if anything else.”
The robbers appeared to target the bishop and his wife — taking their jewelry and leaving quickly.
The CBS New York report noted that approximately 100 congregants were in attendance and that no one was injured during the robbery.
The New York Post reported the value of the stolen jewelry is approximately $400,000. Though, according to police, this total may include jewelry taken from some of the congregants, some question whether or not the lavish trappings are rightly associated with the office of “minister.”

According to The Daily Wire, Whitehead said he believes the robbers targeted his family because he helped turn in a suspect wanted in a deadly subway shooting, not because he and his wife wore hundreds of thousands of dollars in jewelry.
Whitehead founded the Leaders of Tomorrow International organization in 2013. His biography states he “was responsible for the Brooklyn Borough President Eric L Adams’ youth division in Brooklyn NYC representing over 1 million young people in the borough of Brooklyn.”
Whitehead’s promotional literature notes that he was a “mentee” of Adams when the now-mayor served as the Brooklyn borough president.
CBS News reported that Adams’ office released a statement regarding the incident:
“No one in this city should be the victim of armed robbery, let alone our faith leaders and congregants worshiping in a House of God,” Adams said. “The NYPD is investigating this crime and will work tirelessly to bring the criminals involved to justice.”
