Many who shared in the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner were startled when MSNBC News anchor Stephanie Ruhle collapsed while walking the red carpet at an after-party event.
Ruhle joined several fellow anchors in wearing white.
The fall took everyone by surprise. While walking the carpet with fellow anchor Symone Sanders-Townsend, Ruhle paused to pose for a photograph, then fainted.
Though people next to her attempted to catch the news anchor, Ruhle fell to the floor, resting on her back, her head falling back over the edge of the stage with both arms over her head in a lifeless position. TMZ reported that “gasps could be heard from the crowd.”
Amazingly, she awoke in just a few seconds and was quickly raised to her feet. Though a little unsteady, she walked off the stage, escorted by friends and helpers, to the dismay of scores of onlookers.
The well-attended after party, which followed Saturday’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, was at the French ambassador’s residence in D.C.
TMZ reported Ruhle collapsed at about 1 a.m. as many were “dancing and having a great time.”
The Daily Caller noted that no explanation for the fall was shared and that Ruhle “seemed relatively unscathed after the ordeal.”
