A loud chant of “F*** Joe Biden” broke out at MetLife Stadium during Sunday’s battle between the New York Jets and the visiting Tennessee Titans.
The story: In what has become a trend, the crowd at MetLife Stadium on Sunday repeatedly shouted “F*** Joe Biden,” as the Jets survived the Titan’s in an overtime thriller.
Since college football season started back up in late August, many stadiums welcomed fans back in large numbers, often in defiance of President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 recommendations to wear masks and practice social distancing when in large groups.
In what appears to be a sign of protest against the President for these policies, fans have repeatedly erupted in chants of “F*** Joe Biden.”
How we got here: As early as September 4, videos emerged showing crowds chant “F*** Joe Biden,” including crowds at the home stadiums for Coastal Carolina, Virginia Tech, and Texas A&M.
Later in September, the crowd at the fight between Evander Holyfield and Vitor Belfort shouted the chant as Trump watched from the commentator’s booth.
Then, this past Saturday, the crowd at Talladega Superspeedway yelled the chant, as winner of the NASCAR race Brandon Brown conducted his post-race interview. NBC reporter Kelli Stavast made headlines for the interview, because she suggested on air during the chant that the crowd was saying “Let’s go, Brandon,” instead of “F*** Joe Biden.”
Perhaps the loudest instance took place at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, however, as the chant echoed strongly in the fully-packed stadium.
