On Thursday, a school board in Nevada silenced a pastor who read an “explicit” book during a meeting by cutting his microphone.
Pastor John Amanchukwu is known for visiting schools around the country to speak in opposition of critical race theory and gender ideology in classrooms. He recently traveled out to Nevada to speak at a Clark County School District Board of Trustees meeting,
However, as he took the stand and began speaking, his microphone was cut, according to the school district’s livestream of the meeting.
Amanchukwu began speaking about his opposition to the school district’s gender identity policy, which states that schools should provide “a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for all students, including those with diverse gender identities or expressions.”
“In response to policy 5138 I would like to share the 10 realities of LGBTQ,” he said. “Number one, there are only two genders. Number two, without heterosexuality, homosexuality would not exist. Number three, gender is not fluid, it’s frozen. Number four, parents who support transitioning a minor are guilty of child abuse, negligence and human decency. The epitome of love is also truth. Number five, transgenderism is a mental disorder.”
The referenced policy is aimed at “addressing the rights and needs of students with diverse gender identities or expressions.”
Amanchukwu then referenced “anal sex, bl-w j-bs, and orgasms,” prompting a response from the school board’s president, Evelyn Garcia Morales.
“No, stop. Stop. Absolutely not,” she said, having cut off Amanchukwu’s microphone. “I’m stopping your time, because I’m going to correct you,” continuing to yell at him to “stop” and not “use profanity.”
When video of the incident was shared to Instagram by the Clark County chapter of Moms for Liberty, Amanchukwu continues speaking after his mic is cut, yelling out excerpts from “Flamer,” a book that has been repeatedly referred to as “pornographic” and “explicit” and yet has repeatedly been found in school libraries.
“On page 14, it says, ‘Hey, Navarro, suck any good d–ks lately?’” he said with his unamplified voice. “Page 22, it says, ‘What’s wrong, Navarro? I thought you like a big sausage in your mouth! Haha!’”
“John, your language is inappropriate,” Garcia Morales said. “I’m asking you to stop,” but parents began yelling at the board members as Amanchukwu continued speaking.
“You don’t want to hear the truth. You want to cover up the truth. We could care less about the perverted books you all want in the schools. Get them out, and let’s get back to reading, writing and arithmetic,” Amanchukwu said, drawing cheers from the crowd.
Amanchukwu was promptly escorted out of the room by security, according to video footage published by the Moms for Liberty chapter.
Clark county has previously been in the news for a similar situation, after the school board cut the microphone of a mother who was reading a pornographic assignment allegedly given to her daughter, which prompted a federal lawsuit.
