A random man unexpectedly kissed a Brooklyn, New York, councilwoman on the cheek Thursday while she conducted a street interview with CBS New York.
“Not the kind of love I expect from constituents!” Councilwoman Inna Vernikov commented on her X account. “Very creepy moment.”
A video clip of the strange encounter captured by CBS New York reporter Hannah Kliger was included in Vernikov’s tweet.
The astonished councilnwoman may be heard saying “What the f–k?” as she rapidly turned to see who had the nerve to kiss her in such a publicly inapproriate way.
Colleagues on the city council jumped to her defense and slammed the man for his behavior.
“This disgusting behavior is unfortunately all too common in the day-to-day lives of women,” tweeted Bronx’s Marjorie Velazquez. “We can not let sexual assault become a normalized part of our public interactions.”
Queens Councilwoman Lynn Schulman said the incident was abhorrent and disgusting.
“Sadly, this type of unacceptable behavior typically happens to women, even in 2023,” she said in a post to X. “Am standing with you @InnaVernikov.”
“This isn’t funny in the slightest,”Queens Councilman Robert Holden added. “It’s amazing how many creeps are walking the streets!”
