Former President Donald Trump invited several Republican candidates and lawmakers to the stage during his “Save America” rally in Georgia on Saturday night, including Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, who made a promise that seemed to catch the former president off guard.
When Trump asked Gaetz to say a few words, he took to the microphone to praise the 45th president, saying there was “no greater president” and encouraging the large crowd to help Republicans take back the majority in Congress.
“Give us the ability to fire Nancy Pelosi, take back the majority, impeach Joe Biden, and I’m going to nominate Donald J. Trump for speaker of the United States House of Representatives!” Gaetz said.
Trump shook Gaetz’s hand before thanking him and acknowledging his potential nomination. “Well, that was interesting,” Trump said.
