Former President Donald Trump Wednesday told Fox host Sean Hannity he would ignore the media if he was president again.
“My question would be just one thing — just one — you would do differently a second time,” Hannity asked the former president.
Mr. Trump reminded listeners his administration cut taxes and regulations, rebuilt the military and conducted Operation Warp Speed. The Warp Speed operation confounded political opponents and medical authorities like Dr. Anthony Fauci who ridiculed Trump’s claim he could create, produce and distribute a vaccine within a matter of months. Before Trump, vaccines routinely took years to make it to market.
“But one of the things that I would do differently is I found the media is so corrupt, that I would really not focus on them almost at all,” Trump said. “I’d just focus on getting the job done for the American people.”
Trump complained about dealing with the media, calling them “very dishonest,” saying “they write opposite things, they have sources that aren’t sources.”
“They’re unbelievably dishonest, hence the name ‘fake news,’” continued Trump. “They are fake news.”
Watch:
The former president stated the United States has lost the respect of world leaders.
“Our country has never been in a worse position than it is in right now, we’re disrespected all over the world,” said the 45th president. “We no longer have respect, and I would really be focused on that, just bringing our country back, getting our country back to where we had it.
“We had never been more respected than we were two years ago, as a country.”
Trump’s ability to communicate directly with citizens would probably receive a big boost if Elon Musk’s announced plan to buy Twitter goes through. Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey permanently banned the former president from Twitter after President Joe Biden’s inauguration.
Mr. Musk has been an outspoken advocate for free speech and chided Twitter for banning Trump in January 2021.
