The leaders of Russia and Belarus must not have produced reportable news since all attention was on Vladimir Putin’s feet.
President Putin hosted Belarus leader President Alexander Lukashenko Friday for talks about expanding military and economic cooperation, according to the Russian publication Tass.
The Belarusian president did not rule out discussing a joint force grouping in the republic, noting the two countries’ military conducted joint military exercises. Russia also staged troops and tanks in Belarus before beginning its February 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
President Lukashenko recently said his country would not conduct military attacks against Ukraine unless his country was first attacked if even by one soldier.
“I’m prepared to fight alongside the Russians from the territory of Belarus in one case only: if at least one soldier from there comes to Belarus to kill my people,” Lukashenko told reporters on Thursday. “If they launch an aggression against Belarus, there will be the toughest response. And the war will take on a whole new character.”
Other issues on the agenda include energy and import replacement, according to the Tass report.
Twitter users focused most of their interest on President Putin’s restless feet while seated before reporters.

Ukrainian government adviser Anton Gerashchenko postulated Putin’s feet were moving to send a coded message, using Morse Code. It is unlikely since few people even know what Morse Code is anymore, never mind recognizing the signals.
Some media and social media members suggested the restless feet were symptoms of a medical issue. Some theorized the feet movements were symptomatic of Parkinson’s disease. Others suggested it is more likely the movements were a reaction to medication prescribed to treat the nervous order disease.
Another Twitter user commented that the reason may be more mundane.
“The simpler answer is more interesting: He is under pressure and he feels nervous and uncomfortable,” the user opined.
Questions often arise about the 70-year-old Russian leader’s health, such as his grasping a table during the entirety of an April 2022 meeting.
The secretive nature of the Russian government makes it hard to know if Putin is suffering from a lengthy illness or if speculation of health issues are just wishful thinking by his opponents.
