Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) authorized transporting two busloads of illegal immigrants from Texas to Vice President Kamala Harris’ residence in Washington, D.C. The approximately 100 immigrants departed the busses early Thursday morning.
President Joe Biden appointed Harris to oversee the crisis situation at the southern border, but the problem has only increased since her appointment as border czar.
On August 15, The New York Times reported that “border officials already had apprehended more migrants by June than they had in the entire previous fiscal year” and that the United States was “on track to exceed two million by the end of September.”
On September 11, the Vice President declared, “The border is secure.”
Harris made the declaration on Sunday’s “Meet the Press” with host Chuck Todd.
Harris’ declaration that the “border is secure” was widely criticized. Many accused the VP of distorting facts, ignoring facts and outright lying.
Republican governors of southern border states are fighting back — sending busloads of illegal immigrants to Chicago, New York City and Washington, D.C.
Some have noted how quickly Democrat-led sanctuary city mayors complain and ask for federal aid to deal with thousands of migrants when the open border policies they support has led to southern states having to deal with millions.
After federal officials threatened to turn back busloads of immigrants leaving southern border states, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) sent two small planes with 50 illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard –home to several prominent Democrats, including former President Barack Obama.
As previously reported on RTM, a spokesperson for DeSantis’ office said:
“Yes, Florida can confirm the two planes with illegal immigrants that arrived in Martha’s Vineyard today were part of the state’s relocation program to transport illegal immigrants to sanctuary destinations.”
Fox News reported that the 75-100 immigrants who made the 1,800-mile journey from Texas came from Venezuela, Uruguay, Colombia and Mexico.
Last month, Gov. Abbott said: “President Biden’s inaction at our southern border continues putting the lives of Texans and Americans at risk and is overwhelming our communities. To continue providing much-needed relief to our small, overrun border towns, Chicago will join fellow sanctuary cities Washington, D.C., and New York City as an additional drop-off location.”
The Daily Wire noted that Democrats who have supported the Biden administration’s border policies “have decried the busing tactic and said their cities and states cannot absorb the influx of illegal immigrants.”
Last week, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser declared a “public emergency” over the arrival of buses from Texas and Arizona.
