Video footage released Tuesday reveals the exact moment a staffer for Sen. Rand Paul was stabbed in Washington, D.C., according to a report from The Daily Wire.
Phillip Todd, a member of Paul’s staff, was the victim of the violent episode, the report noted. Todd is chief economist for the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.
Footage of Glynn Neal allegedly attacking Todd after leaving a restaurant with a friend was first reported by The Washington Post, which obtained a copy of the video.
As Todd walked the streets of the nation’s capital March 25, he was unexpectedly confronted and allegedly attacked by Glynn Neal, a 42-year-old D.C. resident.
Todd or his friend may be heard asking, “What the ‘BEEP’?” twice in the brief video excerpt.
Neal was released from prison shortly before his encounter with Todd, according to a report from the Daily Mail. Todd suffered a fractured skull, punctured lung and multiple life-threatening wounds during the attack.
The video shows a harrowing scene where Todd is forcefully pushed to the ground and repeatedly stabbed by Neal. A brave bystander intervened, allowing Todd the opportunity to break free from his assailant.

In the midst of the attack, Todd, attempting to protect himself, fought back against Neal for a short time before managing to flee the scene.
Neal was apprehended and charged with assault with intent to kill, but his motivation for the violent act remains unclear.
The brutal attack of Todd represents the second incident of violence against a congressional member or their staff in the same calendar year.
Sen. Rand Paul’s office has yet to comment on the distressing event.
