An anti-woke, pro-God and country song caught the attention of America last month — elevating an unknown singer to celebrity status.
The singer, Oliver Anthony, titled his working-class anthem “Rich Men North of Richmond.”
The song has resonated with many and quickly took the No. 1 spot on iTunes. A number of notables have commented favorably on the simply produced anthem — former President Donald Trump seems also to be a fan.
On Tuesday, a TikTok user posted a 53-second video of former President Donald Trump enjoying Oliver’s song.
The clip shows Trump surrounded by supporters. The former president appeared to press play on his iPad, starting the music.
The crowd begins to sing as Trump sways to the music.
“Yeahhhhhs!” and “Woooooos!” can be heard in the background.
Trump commented that the song is emblematic of the American spirit and dream.”
“This guy was in a bus. Now he’s in a plane,” Trump said, noting that Anthony had gone from obscurity to success and that in America, anything can happen.
The lyrics of the song include:
I’ve been sellin’ my soul, workin’ all day
Overtime hours for bull**** pay
So I can sit out here and waste my life away
Drag back home and drown my troubles away
The Western Journal reported that the “combination of working-class anguish and anti-establishment rage made the song a worldwide phenomenon.”
