Trump Was Allegedly Furious at Hegseth Over US Munitions as the President Seeks to Imprison ‘Treasonous’ Leakers Who Exposed the Bombshell ‘Clash’: Report

President Donald Trump is vowing to hunt down and seek lengthy prison sentences for alleged leakers following a bombshell report claiming he privately clashed with War Secretary Pete Hegseth over concerns about U.S. munitions.

Trump erupted over the report on Truth Social, fiercely denying claims that the U.S. is suffering from a shortage of critical weapons while announcing an effort to identify whoever provided information to the media.

“The ‘leakers’ of these treasonous statements are being hunted down. Long term jail sentences will be sought!” Trump wrote.

The president was responding to reporting about an alleged confrontation involving Hegseth and Deputy War Secretary Stephen Feinberg amid concerns over U.S. weapons stockpiles.

According to the Washington Post, Trump confronted Hegseth during a meeting at Camp David last Friday over why the president had allegedly not been fully informed about the state of the country’s munitions.

Hegseth reportedly denied responsibility and instead pointed toward Feinberg, his second-in-command, over the alleged failure to adequately brief Trump.

The White House has categorically denied that the confrontation described in the report occurred.

“This is 100% fake news. Literally never happened. And President Trump has the utmost confidence in Secretary Hegseth,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said, according to the Daily Mail.

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell similarly pushed back against the allegations, saying Hegseth “did not mislead anyone” about U.S. weapons inventories and did not blame Feinberg for the situation.

Trump himself also rejected the underlying claim that the U.S. is suffering from a shortage of munitions, insisting necessary interceptors are reaching American military installations.

The controversy comes as the administration weighs its next moves against Iran following months of hostilities that have placed significant demands on American military resources.

The Daily Mail, citing the Washington Post, reported that concerns involving long-range guided weapons and air defense interceptors have factored into deliberations over whether to conduct additional large-scale strikes against Iran.

Another report, however, suggests that tensions inside the administration extended beyond the alleged Camp David confrontation.

NBC News reported that Trump personally called Feinberg on Friday evening and threatened to fire the Pentagon’s No. 2 official.

Following the call, Feinberg reportedly convened senior Pentagon officials for a late-night meeting.

Feinberg, 66, is a billionaire businessman who previously chaired Trump’s Intelligence Advisory Board during the president’s first term before becoming the second-ranking official at the Pentagon.

The dispute over munitions comes amid continued Iranian attacks against U.S. forces and allies in the Middle East.

The Daily Mail reported that military commanders have been forced to consider the destination of incoming missiles when determining whether to use valuable interceptors against them.

Eighteen U.S. troops have been killed during the nearly six-month conflict, according to the outlet, while Tehran has launched missiles against American bases and U.S. allies throughout the region.

Iran has also disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial artery for global energy supplies and international trade.

A fragile ceasefire brokered by Pakistan collapsed last month following Iranian attacks on tankers, further complicating attempts to end the fighting.

Trump declared over the weekend that U.S. forces were “locked and loaded” for possible additional strikes before ultimately holding off following appeals from Gulf allies.

The president has since claimed negotiations with Tehran are beginning again, though Iranian officials have disputed that characterization.

Amid the conflicting accounts surrounding the alleged confrontation with Hegseth, Trump has now shifted attention toward the people he believes supplied the information behind the reports.

His message left little ambiguity about what he wants to happen if the alleged leakers are identified: Trump says his administration will hunt them down and seek lengthy prison sentences.

EXCLUSIVE: President Donald Trump’s frustration over the Iran war boiled over at Camp David last week, where he demanded answers from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on why he had apparently been misled on extreme munitions shortages that now threaten to limit military options…
