Several left-leaning celebrities are “virtue-signaling” their decision to cancel Twitter since Elon Musk took over the company and promised to end political bias and promote free speech. The list of notables leaving Twitter includes television producer Shonda Rhimes, musician/singer Sara Bareilles, actor/director Ken Olin, pro wrestler Mick Foley, and musician/singer Toni Braxton. The latest to join the list is Whoopi Goldberg.
Some have gone to great lengths to profile their exit — and some are finding out that not too many care.
The Western Journal humorously noted that “reactions” to Whoopi’s decision to leave Twitter “fell into two camps: 1) Bye, Felicia. 2) Wait, you were on Twitter?”
Goldberg announced her departure from Twitter on Monday’s showing of “The View.” She began by criticizing Elon’s leadership, saying: “It’s been a little over a week since Elon Musk took over Twitter, and the place is a mess.”
She added: “I’m getting off today because I just feel like, you know, it’s so messy, and I’m tired of now having had certain kinds of attitudes blocked now getting back on. So I’m gonna get out, and if it settles down enough and I feel more comfortable, maybe I’ll come back. But as of tonight, I’m done with Twitter.”
In her farewell Twitter post, she wrote: “To everyone, Thanks for everything!” her goodbye tweet read. “Until we meet again! Love, Whoop.”
Reaction to Whoopi’s decision has not boded well for the comedian/actress/host.
Libs of TikTok mocked her with a GIF.

Another said, “Good riddance.”
Scott Presler wrote that Whoopi’s departure would not be missed, mocking that she added little to the platform by reminding Twitter users that Whoopi once thought that Dr. Jill Biden would make a great surgeon general.
One woman suggested that Whoopi was quitting Twitter because she could not defend the positions she espouses.
The Western Journal joined many others who mocked those leaving Twitter because it is moving from left to center in the political spectrum.
“For everyone else in Hollywood contemplating loudly announcing that they’re leaving the platform now that Musk is in charge, be careful: The attention you end up getting may not be the attention you wanted,” the Journal piece warned.
Musk has emphasized that he believes Twitter should include diverse opinions and provide a platform for discussing a wide range of political views.
