In a stunning reversal that has sent shockwaves through Washington, President Joe Biden’s unexpected pardon of his son Hunter has ignited speculation about potential behind-the-scenes family drama and allegations of threatened exposures.
The presidential pardon, which covers Hunter Biden’s gun and tax evasion convictions, marks a dramatic shift from the President’s previous stance.
Just months ago, Biden had firmly maintained he would not intervene in his son’s legal troubles.
In announcing the decision, President Biden framed the pardon as a response to what he characterized as relentless targeting of his son.
“There has been an effort to break Hunter – who has been five and a half years sober, even in the face of unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution,” the President stated.
He added, “In trying to break Hunter, they’ve tried to break me – and there’s no reason to believe it will stop here. Enough is enough.”
The pardon’s scope has raised eyebrows among political observers, as it extends back to 2014 – coinciding with Hunter Biden’s appointment to the board of Ukrainian energy company Burisma.
This timing has fueled discussions about potential connections to overseas business dealings.
“Do you know why Biden picked 2014 as the first year of Hunter’s pardon?” ZeroHedge asked before answering, “That’s when he was appointed director of Ukraine’s Burisma, starting a sequence of events that almost ended in World War 3…”
Juanita Broaddrick quipped, “I think it’s becoming pretty clear now… this pardon was for Joe…. Not Hunter.”
Conservative commentator Benny Johnson noted, “I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that Joe Biden frantically decides to give Hunter the largest pardon in HISTORY to erase ELEVEN YEARS of federal crimes — less than 24 hrs after Kash Patel is announced as FBI Director.”
Jack Posobiec, known for his proximity to President-elect Trump’s inner circle, claimed the pardon came after a Thanksgiving conversation where Hunter allegedly disclosed plans for a tell-all book.
“Over Thanksgiving, Hunter told his father about a book he was writing that would go public with everything. Days later, his father signed a blanket pardon – per WH official,” Posobiec stated.
Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani weighed in, also suggesting the pardon was motivated by Hunter Biden’s involvement in Ukrainian business dealings.
“Biden, who will not even meet with his grand daughter Navy, didn’t pardon his son because he’s a good father,” Giuliani posted on X, alleging financial connections between father and son.
The timing has drawn particular scrutiny, especially given President Biden’s May 31st statement that “No one is above the law” – a comment originally directed at former President Trump’s legal situation.
The contrast between these statements has sparked debate about consistency in justice application.
Trump has responded by questioning the treatment of January 6 defendants, arguing they face continued imprisonment for what he considers less serious offenses than those pardoned in Hunter’s case.
