Additional details have been revealed regarding the death of Billy Miller, a soap opera star and three-time Daytime Emmy winner.
Miller died last Friday at age 43. He was best known for his roles on “The Young and the Restless” and “General Hospital.”
RTM reported soap opera journalist Michael Fairman announced his death last Saturday evening.
On Tuesday, Miller’s mother Patricia revealed that Miller died by suicide; he suffered from bipolar depression for years.
Patricia released a statement to Soap Opera Digest to address rumors regarding her son’s death. “He fought a long hard valiant battle with bipolar depression for years,” wrote Patricia.
“He did everything he could to control the disease,” Patricia added. “He loved his family, his friends, and his fans but in the end, the disease won the fight and he surrendered his life.”
Acknowledging the circulation of rumors and misinformation, Patricia wrote: “The other causes of death being told are not true. …I wish they were but they just aren’t.”
Grateful for the outpouring of support and kind tributes to her son, Patricia said “I want to personally thank the many fans & personal friends for the overwhelming amount of love, prayers & condolences sent to me and my family on the devastating death of my beautiful son BJ – Billy Miller,” she said.
Patricia continued: “We all loved him so much and are desperately trying to deal with our loss. I will have nothing further to say. Thanks for the love and support.”
Many have expressed their support and fond memories of working with Miller in online posts.
