During a CNN interview, Christy Shamblin, a Gold Star mother, provided a surprising revelation to host Abby Philip, shedding light on a lack of communication from President Joe Biden regarding the death of her daughter-in-law.
Shamblin’s encounter brings attention to an unexpected silence from the administration, especially considering her family’s loss of Nicole, her daughter-in-law, two years prior.
Concerning President Biden’s scheduled address on global issues, including the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, Shamblin was questioned about her expectations for personal outreach from Biden, something many grieving families hope for. Her response was straightforward: “No.”

Shamblin elaborated on her family’s attempts to initiate contact with the White House, seeking a meeting to gain insight into the administration’s stance on the situation, only to receive no reply.
“We’ve not received a response. It’s been months,” she said.
The CNN anchor, visibly surprised by Shamblin’s disclosure, responded with a brief “Sorry to hear that,” before steering the discussion elsewhere.
The Biden administration has been criticized for its handling of the U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021, ending America’s longest war. The withdrawal faced scrutiny over its perceived hurried and disorganized execution, leading to the Taliban’s swift resurgence and resulting in distressing scenes at Kabul’s airport, where Afghans and Americans sought to escape the ensuing crisis.
