Authorities are currently on the hunt for three individuals who made a swift escape from the scene. The unfortunate event took place on the southbound D train as it arrived at the 182-183 St. station around 5:02 a.m., according to the New York Police Department.
The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the torso.
First responders were pictured attempting to save the man’s life on the platform side, while the train remained stationed. Despite their efforts, the man was declared dead after being transported to St. Barnabas Hospital.
The NYPD disclosed that the three suspects, believed to have engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim prior to the shooting, are still at large. No arrests have been made in connection with the case.
The incident forced the B and D trains to bypass the station in both directions as the investigation proceeded. Commuters were advised to use alternative bus services. This event is part of a developing story, with updates anticipated.
